The Community
This exceptional custom home was built on Nott Street in the historic,
and picturesque town of Wethersfield, Connecticut. Located in the heart
of the Historic District of “Old Wethersfield” this new
home is just 3.5 miles from Downtown Hartford. Old Wethersfield offers
the ideal location for those wanting the convenience of a short commute,
while living in one of Connecticut’s most historic neighborhoods.
The benefits of excellent schools, beautiful parks, and a small town
atmosphere only add to the desirability of this exceptional location.
The Site
Located on a tree lined street in the heart of historic “Old Wethersfield”,
this site on Nott Street is the only lot currently available for building
in the Wethersfield Historic District. The site for this one of a kind
custom home consists of approximately .25 acres and is within walking
distance of 2 gorgeous parks, the Wethersfield Cove, the Connecticut
River, a number of shops and restaurants, and an elementary school. The
true beauty of the site lies in the fact that the site is located in
a walkable community, surrounded by historic homes, and located only
3.5 miles from Downtown Hartford. This location truly a once in a lifetime
opportunity.
The Home
This exceptional custom home was designed to blend perfectly into its
historic surroundings, while maintaining a wide open floor plan, as well
as all of the modern amenities required by today’s sophisticated
home owner. The home is approximately 2450 square feet and features three
large bedrooms, two and a half baths, a cozy study, and a chef’s
kitchen, that opens up to a columned dining room and a large family room
with a wood-burning fireplace. In addition this new house includes a
large laundry/mudroom area with oversized closets and room for a wide
bench as well as a finished walk up attic that provides an additional
700+/- square feet of living space The home also features a partially
finished basement that includes a fieldstone hearth for a wood stove,
and a two car garage. Nick Uccello in conjunction with Ryan Design Studio,
has designed this house to have the all of the quality and efficiency
of a new home while retaining the outward appearance and the high level
of detail and authenticity of a 200 year old home. Some of the exterior
features of the home include cedar siding, architectural shingles, Anderson “simulated
divided light” widows, detailed moldings, and brick walkways. The
interior of the home features such luxurious touches as granite countertops,
custom cabinetry and built-ins, extra wide casings, and hardwood flooring
throughout the house. 35 Nott Street also includes many energy saving
and “green” features such as Argon gas filled double pane
windows with Low E coating, a fully insulated building envelope with
vapor barrier including the rafters (R30), the foundation walls (R11)and
exterior walls (R19), a 92+ high efficiency gas furnace with 3 zones,
humidity control, and 13 SEER air conditioning. In addition, TJI Truss
Joists, Advantek Sub Floor, and fingerjointed trim materials were used
wherever possible, these products use smaller “new growth” trees
as opposed to large dimensional lumber which require the foresting of
much larger “old growth” trees. In addition Uccello Development was awarded a highly coveted HOBI (Home Building Industry) Award from the Home Builders Association of Connecticut, for excellence in design and construction at 35 Nott Street. The Project was awarded “best Spec Home on a Small Lot” for 2007 for all of Connecticut.
